Rundown for our CMS PTC Wrestling Co-Champions in the tournament is as
follows:
Almost every wrestler scored points for us in the tournament, which was
absolutely crucial in the heart pounding chase for team honors, as the top four
teams were decided by 4 and a half points!
8 PTC Finalists!
At Heavyweight, first year wrestler Eric Lawless not only won his 24th match of
the season, but actually helped secure our final necessary points of the
tournament with his 5th place victory.
At 80 pounds, Kenzie Tayerle took an incredible 4th place in one of the toughest
weight classes in the tournament!
At 116 pounds, Max Weatherbee avenged an early round loss in his finals, winning
his 34th match of the season, and taking a well deserved 3rd place!
At 160 pounds, Aaron Zielinski earned his team leading 36th victory of the
season, earning a solid 3rd place finish!
At 104 pounds, Alex Kachenko wrestled his heart out, earning an awesome 2nd
Place finish, and giving the eventual champion, an undefeated Ohio junior high
state placer, the toughest match of his 38-0 season!
At 142 pounds, Lucas Gerardi matched Kachenko's courage with his very own 2nd
place finish, behind yet another Ohio junior high state placer, finishing his
tremendous season with 30 wins.
At 110 pounds, Zach Brunty continued his dominance over the PTC, becoming our
first individual champion of the PTC tournament, with his 30th victory of this
season.
At 128 pounds, Nick Vespucci silenced every critic in the state by beating his
nearly invincible Kent rival, as well as giving Crestwood its second individual
PTC champion of the tournament, in the most thrilling and meaningful match of
the tournament!
An absolutely phenomenal performance by a group of wonderful young adults, whose
only flaw of the entire weekend was their absolutely horrible rendition of
Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" on the bus ride home!
