Andrea Rose Teodosio Foundation
Announces “Rose Project” and “Rosebuds”
Since its inception, the Andrea Rose Project has distributed hundreds of formal and semi formal dresses and accessories to high school girls in need. To date there have been two homecoming dress distributions in the fall of 2012 and 2013. Prom dresses were distributed in the spring of 2013 and another prom event is being planned for April 2014. Girl Scout Troop 1016 works all year collecting dresses, accessories, shoes, jewelry, and makeup to allow the girls in foster care or otherwise identified as being in need to get everything needed for their special day. The “shoppers” are recruited through the CASA Guardian ad Litem Program, the Summit County Juvenile Court and AMHA. A “personal shopper“ who will help find a dress, accessories, and makeup accompanies each girl. A seamstress is on site for simple dress alterations. Dresses are then steamed and wrapped. The CASA Guardian ad Litem Board donates cupcakes and the Andrea Rose Teodosio Foundation donates beverages, accessories and roses for each girl. Coit Cleaners donates the cleaning of the dresses. Troop Leaders Lori Long Sue Figler and Mary Kay Friend state, “We have a great group of girls with big hearts. We hope this is a project that we can pass along to the younger troops at Holy Family so the project will continue to stay alive and grow.”
“Rosebuds” is a new project that is being launched by the Foundation to provide gently worn special occasion dresses to infants, toddlers and little girls in foster care.
TO DONATE: Formal gowns as well as infant and girl’s special occasion dresses can be donated through a donation box in the lobby of the Summit County Juvenile Court, 650 Dan Street, Akron 44308. You may also email the Foundation or call 330- 630-2243 for pick-up. Dresses will also be collected at the Andrea Rose Teodosio Foundation Booth at the Stow-Munroe Falls Community Showcase on April 5 and 6, 2014 at Stow High School.
The Andrea Rose Teodosio Memorial Foundation is a nonprofit organization that works diligently to support the values Andrea held close to her heart. These include compassionately assisting the underprivileged and elderly, actively addressing environmental issues and promoting community service and education.
