NEW YORK (AP) -- Apple has begun an event in San Francisco where it's expected to reveal a new iPad model. There's been speculation of an updated tablet with a speedier processor, a sharper screen and an option for faster wireless broadband access.
Apple typically waits until near the end of its events to make its main product announcements. Wednesday's event began at about 1 p.m. EST.
In the opening minutes, Apple Inc. CEO Tim Cook walked on stage to a round of applause. He speaks of a "post-PC" era dominated by the iPad and other Apple products.
