DALLAS (AP) -- Police have an armed capital murder suspect surrounded and negotiations are under way after the man grabbed a sheriff's deputy's gun a fled a Dallas hospital.
Dallas County sheriff's officials say Franklin B. Davis grabbed a deputy's service revolver and fled Parkland Memorial Hospital about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. He was found holed up in a car with the gun a short time later about a mile from the hospital, and video from the scene shows special-tactics officers surrounding the vehicle.
The 30-year-old Davis was awaiting trial in the death of Carrollton high school sophomore Shania Gray. Davis already had been charged with sexual assault when he allegedly took the 16-year-old Gray from her school. Her body was found Sept. 8, shot and strangled.
