Defendant pleads in Pa. videotaped beating

MEDIA, Pa. -- A third defendant has pleaded guilty in the videotaped beating by a group of teenage girls of a mentally disabled Philadelphia-area woman who was sitting on her steps.

The Delaware County Daily Times said 19-year-old Takia Edwards pleaded guilty Tuesday in Delaware County Court to aggravated assault and conspiracy and was sentenced to nine to 23 months in prison.

Edwards was the only adult defendant.

She apologized in court. Defense attorney Steven Leach says she's embarrassed and remorseful.

Investigators allege the six teens punched and kicked the 48-year-old Chester woman and hit her with a shoe and a chair in September, apparently for fun. One recorded the beating, which was posted online.

Attorneys for the three remaining defendants are seeking to move their cases to juvenile court.
