LaughFest in Michigan seeking animal nose record

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) -- A comedy festival in Grand Rapids plans to kick off this year's event in record-setting fashion.

"Gilda's LaughFest" organizers want to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people wearing animal noses. People are being asked to gather downtown Thursday for the attempt.

Those willing to give it a try will be provided with official LaughFest chicken beaks.

At last year's kickoff event, the Guinness World Record was set for the number of people tossing rubber chickens at one time.

LaughFest runs through March 18. It's sponsored by the nonprofit Gilda's Club Grand Rapids and honors the memory of comedian Gilda Radner.
