NEW YORK (AP) -- Latif Rivers scored 28 points as Wagner led from the start and coasted to an 80-69 victory over Robert Morris on Thursday night.
The sophomore guard had 17 points in the first half, when the Seahawks (18-4, 9-3 Northeast Conference) shot 60 percent (12 of 20) and led by as many as 17 points while taking a 44-30 lead at the break.
The Colonials (16-8, 7-4) came no closer than six points the rest of the way, 71-65 with 2:09 left in the game. Two free throws by Chris Martin and three by Rivers built the lead back to 11 points.
Tyler Murray added 10 points for Wagner, whose 18 victories match its win total for the previous two seasons combined.
Brandon Herman scored 11 points and Mike McFadden 10 for Robert Morris, while Velton Jones, who had scored 20 or more in four straight games, was held to nine.
