HANNOVER, Germany (AP) -- Austria defender Emanuel Pogatetz has extended his contract with Bundesliga side Hannover.
Hannover says the 29-year-old Pogatetz has signed a new deal to keep him at the club until 2015. His contract had been due to expire at the end of next season.
Pogatetz has played 47 Bundesliga games for Hannover since arriving from Middlesbrough in 2010.
Hannover sporting director Joerg Schmadtke says he is "an important cornerstone of our team."
Pogatetz was banned for three matches earlier this month when the German football federation said he intentionally punched Nuremberg's Philipp Wollscheid in a 1-0 Hannover win.
