Sandusky Register names Tandem exec new publisher

SANDUSKY, Ohio (AP) -- An executive at Tandem Media Network will take over as publisher of the Sandusky Register on March 1.

Tim Parkison will succeed Doug Phares, who has been publisher since 2005. The 42-year-old Parkison will remain executive vice president of sales at Tandem, an online collaboration between the Register and the Norwalk Reflector.

The Register is a Sandusky Newspapers Inc. publication with an average weekday circulation of about 21,000.

In December, Phares became president of the newspaper division within Sandusky Newspapers, which operates newspapers in four states and radio stations in two. He remains president of the Tandem marketing group.
