AKRON, Ohio (AP) -- A former Ohio county commissioner convicted of racketeering is due back in court and could face the loss of his swanky home to make financial restitution.
Former Cuyahoga (keye-uh-HOH'-guh) County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora will face the jury that convicted him Friday when a forfeiture hearing opens Wednesday in federal court in Akron.
Prosecutors want to seize Dimora's $438,000 home in Independence and may go after his public pension to repay ill-gotten gains.
The former county Democratic chairman in Cleveland was convicted of 33 counts for arranging contracts and jobs in return for bribes.
The Plain Dealer in Cleveland (http://bit.ly/y7p5Bc ) reports prosecutors said Tuesday that they'll try to prove a criminal operation was headquartered at Dimora's home. Defense attorneys say they'll try to dispute that claim with help from a witness.
