BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -- A New York diver has pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide following a wrong-way crash on a Buffalo highway that killed two cousins.
The Erie County District Attorney's Office says 25-year-old Matthew Ruckdaschel (RUCK'-dash-el) faces 8 1/3 to 25 years in prison following his plea in county court on Monday.
Authorities say Ruckdaschel was drunk and under the influence of drugs while speeding in the wrong direction on the Kensingtown Expessway in January 2011. His pickup truck crashed head-on into an SUV, killing both occupants.
The victims were 37-year-old Orlando Anderson of Buffalo, a father of three, and Thomas Johnson, a 42-year-old father of five from Cleveland, Ohio.
Ruckdaschel was seriously hurt in the crash and appeared in court Monday in a wheelchair.
Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 13.
