CUSTAR, Ohio (AP) -- A northwest Ohio sheriff says a 71-year-old woman died after a train hit her car at a rural railroad crossing that has signs but no gates or lights.

The Wood County sheriff says the driver failed to yield to a CSX Transportation train on Thursday near Custer, about 30 miles southwest of Toledo. He says the Deshler-area woman was flown to a Toledo medical center, where she died.

The Blade newspaper (http://bit.ly/HXxskT ) reports the railroad crossing amid open farm fields is labeled with signs but lacks other warnings such as lights and gates.
