COLUMBUS -- Columbus police are looking for a man suspected of fraudulently collecting thousands of dollars for a veterans' charity he did not represent.
Police say a warrant for identity theft has been issued for suspect Joseph Steward and that theft charges are expected.
Police say the 45-year-old Steward has recently been soliciting donations for the Wounded Warrior Project in greater Columbus.
They say more than 300 people may be victims of the alleged fraud.
Police say the charity does not solicit door-to-door, that it has never received any money raised by Steward and that he does not represent the group.
