Ex-convict suspected in child slaying in Cleveland

TOLEDO -- This month is now the snowiest on record in Toledo.

The National Weather Service says 30.9 inches of snow have fallen in Toledo so far in January.

The Blade newspaper reports the snowfall amount tops the old mark set in January of 1978. That was the same month of the famed Blizzard of '78.

More than 50 people died in the blizzard that shut down much of the state at the end of January 36 years ago.

Police obtained crime-scene surveillance footage of the shooting which also wounded the girl's mother.

The Northeast Ohio Media Group (http://bit.ly/1amNiUE ) reports a neighbor's surveillance footage shows a green SUV pass by the shooting scene, with the camera's position blocking the view of the shooter.

Authorities identified the slain girl as Jermani (JEHR'-muh-nee) Brooks. Her mother, 33-year-old Noni (NAH'-nee) Brooks, was hospitalized in fair condition.
