YOUNGSTOWN -- Two people have been found guilty of enslaving a mentally disabled woman for two yars with her child.

Prosecutors say a 27-year-old man from Ashland and his girlfriend threatened and abused the woman while raiding her government benefits. Investigators say the pair at times forced the woman and her daughter to live in a locked basement.

One defense attorney says investigators tried to sensationalize the case and that two others who already pleaded guilty were the ringleaders. Another attorney denied that the pair stole from woman

The two defendants could face sentences of up to 30 years if they're convicted on all counts.
