Haasz Automall will donated $1,620 to the Center of Hope in Ravenna to help its relocation fundraising campaign.
The city of Ravenna has donated the former Portage County jobs office on West Main Street for a $1 per month rent. The building needs major renovations to add a kitchen, dining area and adequate storage and has started a campaign to raise funds for the project.
In 2011, the center served more than 62,000 hot meals and filled more than 10,000 pantry orders for grocery assistance. The center is already using the new building for food storage as it has completely run out of room in its current location.
Haasz Automall pledged to donate $10 to the center's campaign for each car sold in December. The goal was to sell 150 vehicle. Haasz exceeded the goal and sold 162. A check will be presented to Anne Marie Mann-Noble, the center's director of emergency outreach services at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Center of Hope, 1034 West Main Street.
In an effort to "give back," Haasz participates in several local and national charities. Haasz Automall served as a collection hub for the Center of Hope's food and toy collection throughout the holiday season. It also acts as a drop-off point for Cell Phones for Soldiers, an organization that collects cell phones to donate to troops stationed overseas. Haasz Automall also will participate in the Southern Portage County Relay for Life for the second year in a row in 2013.
Haasz Automall looks forward to continued fundraising and support for Center of Hope and encourages individuals and fellow community businesses to donate. If you would like to donate, cash or a check made out to "Center of Hope" can be mailed to Family & Community Services, 705 Oakwood Street, Suite 221, Ravenna, OH 44266.
