Annual Service of Remembrance slated

Published:

Every year on the Winter Solstice -- the longest night of the year -- Kent United Church of Christ offers "The Longest Night," a Christmas remembrance worship service. On Dec. 21, the church will again offer solace for those who struggle to find joy at the most difficult time of year.

The service provides inspirational words of comfort, poetry, interpretive dance, instrumental music and vocal solos combined with silent reflection, prayer, and an opportunity to light a candle in honor of lost loved ones or in hope of a brighter new year.

The service will begin at 7 p.m. in the chapel and will be over by 8 p.m. Any who wish to stay longer to pray, reflect, or simply sit in the quiet candlelight following the service may do so.

The church is located at 1400 E. Main St. in Kent.
