The United Methodist Church of Kent, 1435 E. Main St., will have a Services of Ashes at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. This service uses the ancient biblical symbolism of ashes as a sign of repentance and receiving God's forgiveness. The hour-long service includes a message from the senior pastor, Dr. David Palmer, and special music by the Sanctuary Choir.
Child care will be provided. The service is open to the public.
The service is preceded by a potluck supper at the church in Pierson Hall at 6:15 p.m. Participants should bring a dish to share plus table service. The church will continue to hold Wednesday evening Lenten suppers each week through March 20.
