St. Joseph Church plans Lenten events

Ash Wednesday Masses & Distribution of Ashes at St. Joseph Church in Mantua will be held at 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday.

This year, Stations of the Cross will be held each Friday afternoon of Lent at 3 p.m. in church.

Lenten Soup Suppers at St. Joseph will be held in Hughes Hall from 6 to 6:45 p.m. Tuesdays during Lent: Feb. 19 and 26, and March 5, 12 and 19. "Family-size" pots of soup and/or breads are needed (bring them to the kitchen just prior to the supper). All are welcome.

"Explore the Mysteries, Meaning & Riches of the Mass" from 7 to 8 p.m. in the church on the following dates:

Feb. 19 -- Mass and The Eucharist (presentation by the Rev. Rick Pentello, pastor of St. Patrick Church in Kent)

Feb. 26 -- A History of the Mass, Part I (video presentation and discussion)

March 5 -- A History of the Mass, Part II (video presentation and discussion)

March 12 -- The Sacrament of Reconciliation (presentation by the Rev. Michael Garvey, pastor of St. Joseph Church in Mantua)

March 19 -- Celebrating St. Joseph Feast Day, 7 p.m. Mass

The Parish School of Religion Program at St. Joseph Church in Mantua will sponsor the annual Palm Sunday pancake breakfast featuring all-you-can-eat buttermilk pancakes from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 24 in Hughes Hall. This meal is served with toppings and/or syrup, sausage patty, orange juice, coffee, tea or milk.
