Jessica Edwards of Rootstown will leave March 27 to serve 18 months in the California Riverside Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She has always wanted to go on a mission. "I already love the people there and am so excited to meet them," she said.
Edwards is a 2010 Rootstown High School graduate attending Brigham Young University, majoring in neuroscience.
The public is invited to attend The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2776 Hartville Road, Rootstown, on Sunday, when Edwards will speak about her mission. The worship service begins at 10 a.m.
Mormon missionaries voluntarily give service to communities and help people come closer to Jesus Christ.
More than 55,000 missionaries are serving missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at any one time, and there are 340 missions throughout the world.
