Singing Weavers to minister on Sunday

Published:

The Singing Weavers will minister at the First Congregational Church of Freedom at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. A covered dish dinner will follow.

The Singing Weavers is a three-generation family group. They have been traveling and spreading God's love through music and sharing the gospel for 40 years.

Their ministry started in 1971 with Linda and Verlin Weaver traveling and singing with their children, Dennis, Terri and Vickie. In 1985, Dennis married Chris. She has been singing with the family ever since.

Dennis and Chris have two children, Alyssia and Michael. Alyssia began singing a special with The Singing Weavers at age 5. Before that, she could be found sitting on the laps of pastors or napping in her basket.

In 2004, the group revamped and Alyssia began singing lead for the group. She continues to sustain this position, allowing the family to have a tight trio that highlights the family harmony.

In 2007, Michael began singing a special with the group. He continues to sing his special songs such as "Zacheus" and "Just a Little Talk with Jesus."

Pastors Jim and Janie Melick invite the public to join in an uplifting and joyful service with the Weavers and plan to stay for dinner afterward.

The church is located at S.R. 88 and S.R. 303 in Freedom Township.
