Prayer Shawl Partner Ministry sends comfort

Published:

The Prayer Shawl Partner Ministry of the First Church of God, 426 W. Broad St., Newton Falls, began in March 2011.

The members have distributed more than 140 prayer shawls, slippers and lapghans in two years.

This outreach ministry has comforted many people who have been ill, grieving a loss or residing in long-term care facilities, as well as active-duty military within the United States and in foreign countries and visiting missionaries.

Also, this group supports local needs by crocheting and knitting scarves and hats for the Warren Family Mission's coat giveaway.

Gaye Combs, one of the members of Prayer Shawl Partners, created a project to send to Newtown, Conn., to show the group's love, support and prayers for them. Each family will receive a rainbow suncatcher to hang in their window. "We spread our love with our ministry," said Nancy Lance.

The Prayer Shawl Partners meet the third Thursday of each month in the library at The First Church of God in Newton Falls. "We have fun, fellowship and snacks! If you are interested in this fellowship, you're welcome to join us," said Penny Culver.
