The 2014 "Try Prayer! It Works!" Contest is a national competition that encourages children to express their faith through art, poetry and prose. The deadline for entries is Feb. 1.
Sponsored by Family Rosary, the contest is open to students in kindergarten through grade 12 who are enrolled in a Catholic school, religious education program, parish or other organization.
Now in its 19th year, the annual national competition attracts more than 1,000 entries from more than 22,000 participants nationwide.
This year's theme is "Lord, I believe. Help my unbelief" and focuses on The Presentation in the Temple. The Fourth Joyful Mystery of the Rosary tells the story of Simeon, who recognizes that Jesus is the Messiah. He has waited a lifetime to witness this moment and is rewarded for his faith.
The contest asks entrants to use creativity to depict their thoughts and feelings on what The Presentation of the Child Jesus in the Temple means to them.
All entries must be postmarked by Feb. 1.
