ELECTION UPDATE: Park levy widens lead; Kline, Christian Bennett apparent winners in commissioners' contests

Published:

The Portage Park District levy has widened its lead with nearly 25 percent of Tuesday's votes tallied. The parks issue is ahead 3,617 to 2,578, according to returns from the Portage County Board of Elections from 30 of the 131 voting precincts.

Democrat Vicki Kline and Republican Sabrina Christian-Bennett appear to be heading for victory in their primary contests for county commissioner. Both held wide leads over their challengers.

In the Democratic primary for probate-juvenile judge, Bob Berger holds a 500-vote lead over Tom Freeman, while David Brode leads Jonathan Jennings by 300 votes in the Republican race.

The Ravenna school levy is losing by about 130 votes with about half of the precincts counted. The Field school levy is behind by 70 votes with 2 of 14 precincts counted.
