Aunalee Catherine Breckenridge Aunalee Catherine Breckenridge, 74, of Kent, died Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna. Born May 3, 1935 in Lancaster, OH to Bernard and Dorothy (Barnes) Haas. She taught elementary school in Chillicothe from 1955 to 1956 and Special Education Classes at the American Dependent School in Munich, Germany from 1957 to 1958. She was an elementary school teacher in Streetsboro and Field Schools from 1959 to1961. She took a special interest in teaching handicapped children. She was the Christian Education Director at St. John's Episcopal Church in Cuyahoga Falls for over ten years. She worked in California as a Property Manager for Rudolph and Sletten Construction Co. for over twenty years. A member of Club 53", a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary and American Legion Posts 496 & 585 Auxiliaries. She is survived by her husband, Robert F. Breckenridge, whom she married on June 16, 1955; sons, Robert M.(Leslie) Breckenridge of Kent and Brian D.(Paula) Breckenridge of San Ramon, CA; daughters, Mary Alice Breckenridge of Redwood City, CA and Colleen C. Breckenridge of Kent; grandchildren, Kalee Breckenridge, Austin Breckenridge, Andrea Breckenridge, and Lesieli Feiloakitau; brother, Bernie (Carole) Haas of Chatauqua, NY; sister, Carol (Dean) McCall of Palm Desert, CA; sister-in- law, Joanne Ricard; brother- in-law, Daniel (Janice) Breckenridge; nieces, Dee Hawkins, Sherry Haas, and Anne Winters; nephews, Fred Griffin, Michael Ricard, Bruce Haas, and Brad Haas; and special friend, Charlotte Greene. She was preceded in death by her brother, Byron Michael Haas. Celebration of Life Services will be held 5:30 P.M. Sunday, November 8th at Captain Brady VFW Post 3703, 500 VFW Parkway, Kent. Charles William "Bill" Franks Charles William Bill Franks, age 89 of Ravenna, passed away Friday, November 06, 2009, at Robinson Memorial Hospital. He was born December 21, 1919, in Muskegon, Michigan, a son of the late Chauncey and Fairy (Royce) Franks. Bill was a licensed funeral director and embalmer in the State of Ohio since 1941. He also worked for the Ravenna Lumber and Coal Company for 19 years and was a letter carrier for the US Post Office for 10 years. Bill was also active in C.H. Franks and Son, a traffic light installation company servicing northeast Ohio. He was a decorated veteran of the US Army during WWII. Bill was a member of the First United Church of Ravenna for over 60 years. He also was an active Freemason, belonging to Unity Lodge #12 F.&A.M. of Ravenna, Tyrian Chapter #91, Royal Arch Masons of Ravenna, Akron Council #80, Royal and Select Masons, Akron Commandery #25, Knight Templar, Tadmor Temple Shrine of Akron, YUSEF Khan Grotto of Akron. He served as Past Patron for Ravenna Chapter #46 OES and was a current member of Palmy Chapter #114. Bill was also an active member of Ravenna Grange #32, the Ohio State Grange, and belonged to the National Grange. Survivors include his wife of 68 years Dorothy Lenore (Luikart) Franks; daughter: Shirley (Michael) Johnson of Edinburg; grandchildren: Judy (Steve) Duty of Sharron, PA, Debbie (Phil) Farmer of Columbia, SC, Susan Kay (Larry) Wyatt of Altadena, CA; great- grandchildren: Charles and Samantha Duty, Kelly and Alan Farmer, and Elizabeth Wyatt. Friends will be received Sunday from 1-3 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Masonic and Eastern Star services will begin at 3:00 PM Sunday. Funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Scott Purdum on Monday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Jessie T. Clark Jessie T. Clark 93 of Brady Lake died Thursday, November 5, 2009. She was born February 25, 1916 in Jacksonburg, WV to the late John and Seratha (Edgell) Kendall. A Portage county resident since 1940, she was a member of Ravenna Freewill Baptist Church and had worked at Dora Ann Nursing Home in Mantua. Survivors include her daughter Ethel Nemeth of Brady Lake, son Ernest Clark of Ravenna, 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Austin, son Clarence "Ray" Clark, 4 sisters and 4 brothers. Calling hours will be from 6-8 PM Monday, November 9, 2009 at Shorts-Spicer- Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at the funeral home with Pastor Jack Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park in Ravenna. John W. Hucik MANTUA John W. Hucik, 85, of Mantua, and formerly of Maple Hts, became Our Gift to God on Thursday November 5, 2009. Beloved husband to Dorothy (Schultz) for 61 years. Dear father of David (Deb), Kathryn Fudella (John), Diane Locktish (Frank) and Tom (Loretta). Grandfather of Laura (Tim), Johnny, Kristin, Kevin, Dylan, and Rianna, Brother of Anne Tupta, Dorothy Pawlicki, and the late Edward Hucik and Rita Hucik. Mr. Hucik was God's Gift to Us, born in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Panek) Hucik. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. An avid collector, he also truly enjoyed the outdoors and appreciated the beauty of nature as it was seen through his eyes. Mr. Hucik will most be remembered for his loving treatment to all who he met and the love he gave to his family. Calling hours will be Sunday from 1:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where funeral services will be held Monday November 9, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. Mr. Hucik will be laid to rest at Westlawn Cemetery in Mantua Township, where U.S.Navy military honors will be observed. Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donors choice. Paul J. Spangler BURTON-TROY TWP. Paul J. Spangler, Sr., 69 years of age, a resident of Geauga County the past 40 years, and President of Drummond Corporation of Burton, passed away Friday November 6, 2009 at his residence. Rudolph Malandro Rudolph Malandro, age 86, died at Hospice of the Valley in Scottsdale, Arizona on Friday, October 23, 2009 of a massive stroke. Rudy was born March 8, 1923 in the town of New Castle, Pennsylvania to Angelina Ludovici and Eugene Malandro. He served in the military during WWII from 1943-1946, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. He married Josephine Rose Blundo, on April 2, 1947. They were happily married for 50 years until Josephines death in March 1997. Rudy passionately pursued his education and received his bachelors degree from Westminster College in 1948 and his Certified Public Accounting Certificate in 1960. He received his Doctorate of Philosophy degree in accounting in 1964 from the University of Pittsburg. Rudy began his career teaching at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan. He was then recruited by the FBI in 1955 and reported to Quantico, Virginia for training as a special agent. After serving in the FBI, he joined the faculty at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, and later became the Chairman of the Accounting Department. Rudy was affectionately called The King by family and close friends. He was known for his ability to rule with kindness, generosity, games, and fun-loving teasing. He is survived by his three daughters and eight grandchildren. Rudy will be laid to rest in a private service at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
