I'm a newspaper reporter with a guilty pleasure.
I like to watch competition reality shows. Because I have a love of music, "The Voice" and "American Idol" are two contenders for my limited free time.
I prefer the talent on "The Voice," but recognize that "American Idol" contestants generally end up with a bigger share of the spotlight.
Every once in a while, I may find myself watching "Dancing with the Stars." That makes Monday nights a complicated night for my DVR. I only have so much time, so "Dancing" may be relegated to the back burner unless there is strong interest in my take on it among our readers. I'm frankly not a good judge of dancing anyway.
Right now "The Voice" is doing something called "blind auditions." So like the judges, I tend to listen to the show from my computer chair, back to the TV, unless something I hear captures my interest.
And now that "American Idol" is letting the public vote, I'm generally underwhelmed with the choices the judges have given us. Feel free to disagree!
Look forward to polls and links to stellar or not so stellar performances. Every once in a while, you may see me throw a bone to similar shows, including those across the pond.
