Televised Talent: Hallelujah! Sister Cristina headed to finale

Remember the Italian nun who sang her way into the hearts of the world?

She’s still running strong and is singing her way into the finale on The Voice of Italy.

Sister Cristina, known as “Soeur Cristina” on her side of the ocean, earned her place with her rendition of “Sally,” a song about a woman who finds the strength to carry on despite how she has suffered. The nun sings the song in Italian, and YouTube sadly offers no English translation.

From what Google and I have been able to piece together, the nun has had the “time of her life” (yes, she sang that, too this week) on the show. Over the course of the show, she has sung with Kylie Minogue and her fellow contestants.

Meanwhile, the atheist rapper, J-Ax, who initially joked that he would face eternal damnation if he didn’t send her through, more recently pleaded for people to rise against prejudice and pettiness. He also defended the nun’s appearances in her habit, saying the outfit is a sign of the nun’s authentic self.

The coach recently told a talk show that Sister Cristina has been “one of the most wonderful and wholesome things that has ever happened in my career.”

Hallelujah.

Watch for the nun about 4 minutes into this clip, when she sings along with Ricky Martin.
