Record Courier Staff Report Published:

Kent State University is hosting a send-off event for its Detroit-bound football team at 9 a.m. Thursday at the MAC Center. The KSU football team is headed to Detroit for the 2012 Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championship.

Doors open 30 minutes prior to the start of the program, and fans can get their official KSU postseason rally towels at entrances into the gym. At that time, fans can get an inside look at this historic season with the "One Team, One Destiny" video series, which will be playing on the video board. There also will be free coffee from Tree City Coffee.

Members of the university administration, KSU head football coach Darrell Hazell and a few members of the team will address the crowd before loading the buses in search of the Golden Flashes' first MAC Championship in football since 1972.

The program is expected to last approximately 30 minutes.
