The American Red Cross of Summit and Portage Counties is currently accepting nominations for its 2013 Hero Awards.
Each year in Portage County the Red Cross honors local persons who have performed courageous acts to save a life. Residents of Portage County are encouraged to nominate individuals whose heroic actions are noteworthy and deserving of recognition.
The heroic event may have happened anywhere, but must have occurred in 2012. Nominees for the Portage Real Heroes Award must reside or be employed in Portage County. The deadline for nominations is Dec. 31.
To submit a nomination, call the Red Cross at 330-535-6131. Or visit the web site at www.summitcounty.redcross.org and click on the "Nominate Your Hero" icon for a nomination form.
All nominations will be reviewed by a panel and heroes will be selected in January.
