Putt'r Classic raises funds for area charities

The Ravenna Elks Club and Friends Fighting Hunger recently held their second annual Butterball Putt'r Golf Classic to benefit the Ravenna Center of Hope and Kent Social Services.

More than 130 participants enjoyed a round of putting golf at The Birdie Shack. The proceeds from this fund raiser helped the Center of Hope and Kent Social Services with their Thanksgiving and Christmas food and toy distribution.

More than 1,700 food boxes for Thanksgiving and Christmas were distributed and toys for more than 1,100 children were given to Portage County families who have fallen on hard times.

After the outing, golfers gathered at the Elks Club in Ravenna for appetizers, a steak dinner catered by Mimi's Restaurant, music provided by Sage Karaoke/DJ who donated his services, a 50/50 raffle and silent auction was also held.

This year's event has been set for Sept. 28.
