Senior Companion program accepting volunteers

Published:

The Senior Companion program, a program of Family & Community Services, Inc., is accepting applications from seniors, ages 55 or better, to provide companionship and support to older adults.

Volunteers spend an average of 15 to 20 hours per week in the homes of older adults who could use a little friendship and a watchful eye, so they can remain independent and enjoy a brighter future.

Senior Companions can earn a small nontaxable, nonreportable stipend and mileage reimbursement to offset the costs of volunteering. In addition, the services are free to the clients.

The program is now filling up classes for March and April.
