Suspect sought for Randolph burglary

Record-Courier staff report Published:

The Portage County Sheriff's Office is asking the public's help in identifying a suspect in a burglary at a house ion Hartville Road in Randolph at approximately 12:50 p.m. Sunday.

According to Sheriff David Doak, the occupants of the house awoke to the sound of broken glass. When they entered the kitchen, they found a man had entered the residence through a broken window.

The suspect fled the residence and was picked up on Pontius Road by a black older model SUV with tinted windows, but not before the resident took a picture of him.

The suspect is described as a white male, 30 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall, with a slender build and a short beard. He was wearing a brown jacket with a red hooded sweatshirt underneath, a black baseball cap with a gray bill and an unknown logo on the front.

Doak is asking anyone with information to call the Portage County Sheriff's Office at 330-296-5100, and not take any action on their own.
