CINCINNATI (AP) -- A southwest Ohio man died Tuesday after officers used a stun gun while struggling to subdue him, police said.
Hamilton County sheriff's deputies say they responded at about 3 a.m. to a report of a man breaking out a neighbor's condo windows in the Cincinnati suburb of Sycamore Township. They encountered him in the back of the condo, where he assaulted a deputy, and a second deputy shot him with a stun gun, said Chief Deputy Mark Schoonover. He said after another deputy used his stun gun, the man was arrested.
Officers say the man stopped breathing minutes later. A deputy reportedly tried to resuscitate him, but he was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The sheriff's office said the man appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
"We will thoroughly investigate this incident and determine what happened from start to finish," Schoonover said.
No information on the man was released, pending notification of his relatives.
