CLEVELAND (AP) -- Cleveland authorities say an ex-con who kidnapped his former girlfriend at gunpoint and killed himself as police closed in was charged with trying to abduct the woman 11 years ago.
The Plain Dealer (http://bit.ly/19G4fIJ ) reports Derrick Hudson was accused of forcing the woman from an apartment and trying to strangle her in 2002. A county prosecutor's spokesman tells the newspaper Hudson pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in that case, and a kidnapping charge was dropped in exchange.
The pair had a long history. Hudson recently was released from prison after serving 10 years for manslaughter in the killing of the woman's boyfriend at the time.
Police say the 35-year-old Hudson abducted the woman Saturday. Officers following a tip Monday found her with an injured arm but otherwise in good condition.
