CLEVELAND (AP) -- A Cleveland man who prosecutors say beat his grandmother with a hammer before suffocating her on the floor has been sentenced to life in prison.
Twenty-one-year-old Dale Palmer Jr. was convicted Tuesday of aggravated murder, aggravated robbery and tampering with evidence.
Prosecutors said he killed his grandmother, Jualene Winston, in her home in the Cleveland Heights suburb on June 22.
WOIO-TV (http://bit.ly/1iyvysE ) reports that after Palmer was arrested, he admitted to beating and smothering the woman.
With additional sentences on the other charges, he won't be eligible for parole for 30 years.
