KETTERING, Ohio (AP) -- The Ohio State Fire Marshal's office says four people have died in a blaze that destroyed a southwest Ohio home.
Spokesman Michael Duchesne (Doo-SHAYN') tells The Associated Press that state investigators on the scene believe there were seven people in the house. Three people escaped, one with injuries early Thursday. No other details on them were available immediately.
He says the upper level of the home collapsed during the fire in the Dayton suburb of Kettering.
Authorities have said emergency responders were hindered by intense heat. A police officer sought treatment for minor heat-related injuries.
Neighbors called 911 at around 3:50 a.m. to report the fire that engulfed the home. Investigators were trying to determine what started it.
