Columbus police shoot man carrying shotgun

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Police officers in Columbus say they shot and critically wounded a man who had been standing in a road pointing a shotgun at motorists.

A police report said it happened at about 10:45 p.m. Thursday on the city's southeast side.

Police said they chased the man to a nearby apartment complex and confronted him there. Two officers fired multiple shots at the men, and he was hospitalized in critical condition. His shotgun was recovered at the scene.

The officers weren't injured. The man hasn't been identified.
