KENT, Ohio (AP) -- Authorities say a man died after being hit by a train in northeast Ohio.
The Portage County Sheriff's Office says 43-year-old Edward Dye was hit on the tracks near Kent early Thursday. The incident was first reported to local officers by the Norfolk Southern railroad police.
Officers said Dye, who lived in Hudson, was conscious when they reached him, but he died at the scene a short time later.
Police said they didn't know why Dye was on the tracks.
No charges were expected against the train operator.
