NEW YORK (AP) -- The president of Anna Maria College in Paxton, Mass., has been chosen to head St. Joseph's College in New York.

The school announced Monday that Dr. Jack P. Calareso will start his new job on July 1.

He'll be the first non-religious leader of the college since its founding in 1916.

Calareso previously was president of Ohio Dominican University in Columbus, and Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa.

St. Joseph's has campuses in Brooklyn and in Patchogue (PACH'-awg) on Long Island.
