Heritage Foundation leader to speak in Ohio

CINCINNATI (AP) -- A conservative leader will be featured at an April 25 reception hosted in southwest Ohio by national and state groups.

Former Republican Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina leads the Washington-based Heritage Foundation. The foundation says DeMint will be the featured speaker at the event in a downtown Cincinnati hotel, after opening remarks by leaders of Ohio-based organizations The Buckeye Institute and The Ashbrook Center.

The Washington think tank's political arm, Heritage Action, warned congressional members about compromising in last October's federal government shutdown.

The Cincinnati region has a very active tea party movement. House Speaker John Boehner (BAY'-ner) of the northern Cincinnati suburb of West Chester and Sen. Mitch McConnell in neighboring Kentucky both face primary challenges this spring.
