MIDDLETOWN -- Authorities say they believe a house fire that killed a woman in southwest Ohio was intentionally set.
Middletown Police Maj. Mark Hoffman tells The Middletown-Hamilton Journal-News that the death of 50-year-old Sheri Denise Slone is being investigated as a homicide.
The coroner's office said earlier that Slone died from smoke inhalation. Authorities said Wednesday they are awaiting lab and other investigative results.
A firefighter was injured by debris when the roof collapsed in the April 24 blaze. The firefighter was treated and released from a hospital.
Fire officials said they found heavy fire and smoke when they responded to a call of fire. They said it took about 45 minutes to bring the fire under control in the split-level, wood-frame building.
