The Waterloo Youth Wrestling Head Coach Henry Bolanz contacted me recently to brag about the wrestlers that he coached this year. He said that it was an excellent year for all 40 boys. The wrestlers this year were: Nicholas Plajer, Chase Cooper, Dillon Wingard, Henry Bolanz, Brett Dorsey, Matt DeGroff, Daron Swisher, William Jones, Aaron Redd, Dylan Holladay, Aaron Scarlett, Terry Powell, Brandon Brines, Daemon Davis, Gage Seth, Kristin Youngblood, Dallas King, Tyler Cooper, David Culver, Anthony Sasinouski, Chris Stegh, Robbie Taylor, Jose Brenes, Aaron Eichler, Robert Vicen, Derek Culver, Jeffrey Leasure, Mitchell Kline, Tyler Barefoot, Justin Fano, Mathew Alfonso, Adam Allen, Jeff Herman, Joe Frisone, Donald Holladay, Brandon Conner, Mathew Sasinouski, Anthony Frisone, Angelo Frisone and Chris Vicen.
On Jan. 11 at the Springfield tournament, they had 11 boys place: Tyler Cooper, Justin Fano, Aaron Eichler, Jeffrey Leasure, Donald Holladay, Mitchell Kline, Robbie Taylor, Matt Alfonso, Anthony Frisone, Angelo Frisone and Tyler Barefoot.
On Jan. 19 at Louisville High School, six boys advanced to the district tournament which was held at Northwest High School on Feb. 2. These wrestlers were Justin Fano, Matt Alfonso, Robbie Taylor, Matt Sasinouski, Tyler Cooper and Tyler Barefoot.
On Jan. 26 at Louisville High School, six boys also placed as a result of this tournament. These wrestlers were Mitchell Kline, Brandon Brenes, Kristian Youngblood, Jeff Hermann, Matt DeGroff and Derek Culver.
Congratulations to all these wrestlers and the whole team. Keep up the good work.
The eighth-grade Waterloo Lady Vikings won their second straight Portage County League Championship last year by defeating Crestwood. Their record was 14-1 overall.
Coaches Brenda Flarida and Bob Hamilton would like to congratulate this group of hard working young ladies. The team members this year were Mallory Derbfiiss, Chelsee Walters, Laura Schiele, Allison Steiner, Cara Bedard, Ashley Doloresco, Tiffany Ruggles, Ashley Beans, Missy Zehnder, Brittnee Miller and Stephanie Graham.

As a little reminder, Waterloo High School Girls Basketball hosts its last home game tonight. It is senior night and the senior girls are Cassie Bedard, Tiffany Montgomery and Nicole Long.
The girls have had a great season and have a promising future. Keep up the good work.
The Friends of the Randolph Library invite you to attend a spring gourd painting class taught by local artist June DAgostine. Participants will have the choice of making either a chick or rabbit gourd decoration. The class will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 26 in the Randolph Community Center.
Class fee is $10 and includes all supplies. The fee is due upon registration at the Randolph Branch of the Portage County District Library. Stop by or call (330) 325-7003 for more information and to register. All proceeds benefit childrens programming at the library.
