A big happy birthday goes out to our Deerfield mail carrier Greg Kehres, who celebrated his big 5-0 on Tuesday. Evelyn Kehres also celebrated her 80th birthday this week.

The family celebrated both birthdays on Sunday in Salem.

Dan and Michelle Bright joined 12 of their schoolmates and went to Cancun, Mexico. They flew out of Cleveland on Jan. 5 and returned Jan. 12.

While there, they enjoyed deep sea fishing, snorkeling, jet skiing, and a booze cruise. They also met a couple from Carter-Ford Road in Deerfield while they were in Cancun. They were surprised to be all those miles from home and then meet someone from their own hometown.

It was a great trip, they said, but they are glad to be back home.

Little Jesse Mesaros had his third birthday party on Sunday at the home of his parents, Karl and Tammy Mesaros. In attendance were five little relatives and their parents, along with grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Cunningham and Donne Mesaros, as special guests.

Chuck and Mary Jane Massrock received their first letter from their son, Lance Cpl. Joshua Massrock. He deployed Jan. 6 from Camp Lejeune in North Carolina on the Ponce-Persian Gulf (a weapon ship).

Joshua graduated with the 1999 class at Southeast High School and attended classes at Kent State University before enlisting in the service. Anyone wishing to write him should call his parents for his address.
