Crestwood/Larlham School is now collecting cash register receipts from Giant Eagle.
The school serves students who range in age from 3 to 22. The students are multi-handicapped, having severe limitations in areas such as communication, vision, hearing, and motor abilities.
They all reside at the Hattie Larlham Center for Children with Developmental Disabilities in Mantua.
In class, the students use special switches and special equipment to operate the computer. There are many educational software programs with special features, such as visual and auditory effects, that the students are able to enjoy and control.
The school gets points based on the number of people who register to help, and the total dollar amounts of their purchases.
Since the parents do not live close, there is no Parent/Teacher Association to help. The staff asks that area individuals or organizations help by registering their Advantage Cards. Instead of collecting receipts, each scan of a Giant Eagle Advantage Card will help the school earn free equipment.
To register, call (800) 474-4777 and enter the school identification No. 0245 or log on to www.gianteagle.com and enter the school ID No. 0245.
The collection will continue until March 22.
