GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY LEARNS OF ARCHIVES

Laura Nethken Published:

Members of the Portage County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society met recently at the Portage County Historical Society Museum in Ravenna. Members and friends were treated to a program on What Materials are Available at the Portage County Archives, presented by guest speaker Frank Whitley, director of the Portage County Microfilm and Records Center. Going over some of the archive material available are, from left, Evelyn Burgess, genealogical society secretary; Claudia Bissler, president; Whitley; and Art Hall, treasurer. The genealogical society meets at 2 p.m. on the third Saturday of each month at the Historical Society Museum. Anyone interested in researching their family tree or in becoming a member of the Portage County First Settlers, should attend one of the meetings for help from the genealogical society.
