25th Ohio Infantry is program topic

The Portage County Historical Society will meet at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Historical Society Museum, 6549 N. Chestnut St., in Ravenna.

Guest speaker will be Kelly Selby, an instructor at Kent State University and Walsh College in Canton. She will present a program on African American soldiers in the Civil War, with an emphasis on the 25th Ohio Infantry.

The program is free and open to the public. The historical society is currently selling a detailed colored map of Portage County, circa 1857. The map is 25-by-25-inches, plus margins, and is suitable for framing. The cost is $10.
