A celebration honoring the golden wedding anniversary of Willis and Imogene Fletcher of Ravenna was held recently at Portage Faith United Methodist Church in Mantua.

The event was hosted by the churchs Hope Circle, of which Imogene is a member, along with Imogenes sister, Bertha Scherich of Pennsylvania, and Bobby Gerhardt of Aurora.

The cake was presented to the couple by their children and their spouses, Edwina and Thomas Wilber of Bradley, Ill., and David and Deana Fletcher of Ravenna, and their two grandchildren.

Special guests at the event were Imogenes sister and brother-in-law, Bertha and Thomas Scherich of Pennsylvania.

Willis Fletcher and Imogene Staggers were united in marriage on Jan. 25, 1953 at Carmichaels Methodist Church in Carmichaels, Pa.

Prior to his retirement, Willis was employed by the General Motors Co. for 31 years and Terex for five years, both in Hudson. Imogene worked at Seaworld of Aurora for 15 years before retiring.

The couple are members of Portage Faith United Methodist Church. Willis is a member of the mens group at the church and Imogene is a member of the Hope Circle and Daughters of America.

They enjoy gardening and traveling, and have been to every state except one.
