The Thursday Literary Club recently held its first meeting of 2003 at the Strickland House, on the grounds of the Portage County Historical Society in Ravenna.
Hostess Jeanette Jones and co-hostesses Karen Hazlett and Katie Pangallo served cherry pie with ice cream. Following dessert, Shirley Houston led a discussion of the book, Mount Vernon Love Story, by Mary Higgins Clark.
A short business meeting was called to order by President Lena Brittain. It was voted by members that Pat Kelly be accepted as a new member. A nominating committee, including Marilyn Payne, Peg Dickey and Margaret Parmelee, was appointed.
Members answered roll call with a tidbit about a pre-1900 first lady.
The next meeting will be held at 1 p.m. March 13 at the Strickland House in Ravenna. Roll call will be answered with a good deed.
