NEWTON FALLS Van Horn earns summa cum laude

Rachel Van Horn of Newton Falls recently graduated summa cum laude from Kent State University with a degree in early childhood education.

Van Horn graduated with a 4.0 grade point average. While attending KSU, she completed her student teaching with a second-grade class at Suffield Elementary School.

She was an active volunteer, working frequently with children and the elderly, and also worked for her familys lawn care company.

A December 2002 graduate, Van Horn currently is working part-time at a salon and helping with the family business. She plans on staying in the area to teach at an elementary school beginning in the fall.

A 1998 graduate of Southeast High School, she is the daughter of Scott and Jeannie Van Horn of Newton Falls.
