Matthew Schneider joins U.S. Army

Matthew Schneider of Aurora has joined the United States Army under the Delayed Entry Program.

The program gives young men and women the opportunity to delay entering active duty for up to one year. The recruit qualifies for an $8,000 enlistment bonus.

Schneider reported to Fort Sill in Lawton, Okla., for basic training. He is the son of Mary K. Schneider of Aurora.
